Position Summary:
Under direct supervision, working from sketches, prints or verbal instructions, participates in the making and assembly of experimental parts, components, and assemblies. Performs bench and field tests and makes changes to existing products. Maintains tooling and weld fixtures. Assists in demonstrations of all products. Performs print checks to verify prints and fit of design components and documents suggested corrective actions.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Follows all company and departmental safety rules including proper use of personal protective equipment
Performs assigned duties, completes required paperwork, conforms to company standards
Maintains 5s standards of housekeeping in work area
Supports the Engineering and Production departments
Builds prototype machine parts and assemblies
Maintains tooling and weld fixtures
Fabricates, welds, builds, or repairs parts and weldments using machine tools and equipment required, including but not limited to the following; mills, lathes, surface grinders, drill press, press brakes, power shears, saws, iron worker, welding machines, torches and other hand tools
Uses and reads precision measuring devices to lay out work, set-up machines, assemble and check work
Assembles, adjusts and operates prototype experimental products by performing quality audits and parts checks
Assists with field testing finished proto-type product -- makes necessary corrections
Adjusts, disassembles, repairs and reassembles all experimental department machine tools. Performs minor maintenance to shop equipment
Troubleshoots prototype machines. Resolves problems by performing quality audits and parts checks
Assists Field Service Technicians with technical service assistance either in plant production or in the field
Ability to work on multiple projects at a given time and coordinates with other departments to ensure project completion by set deadlines
Completes necessary paperwork to ensure proper tracking of time, parts, and materials.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
Must be mechanically inclined, welding skills required
Must have or obtain fork lift operator certification
Knowledge of fabrication, machining, welding, assembly operations, and ability to perform these functions
Able to read and use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, digital vernier calipers and pressure measurement instruments
Able to read, write and interpret technical test reports and instructions, blueprints, and use complex handbooks
Excellent mechanical aptitude and good working mechanical vocabulary and understanding, good math skills
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Able to organize and prioritize own work schedule, able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Computer literate with JDE software to access Operators / Parts Manuals and on-hand repair part locations
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED certificate required
Trade school training for fabrication, machining or welding highly preferred
Minimum one year of related experience in a similar manufacturing environment required
Working Conditions:
Position requires significant exposure to heavy steel fabrication, weld, paint and assembly environment with frequent exposure to heat, dust and noise.
Must be able to work extended hours, including weekends on an occasional basis
Must be physically capable of sitting, standing, walking and working 8+ hour shift
Must be able to lift, carry and/or move up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
Must be able to work in non-climate controlled areas
Must be able to wear all required safety equipment
May require limited overnight travel (less than 5%)
Must be able to climb and work at heights

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
